Isn't it grand? John Dossett will make his debut engagement as Billy Flynn in Broadway's Chicago, while Charlotte d'Amboise is making a special return as Roxie Hart. Dossett is slated for a ten-week limited run at the Ambassador Theatre, January 19 through March 29. He takes over from John O’Hurley, who will play his final performance on January 17. d'Amboise rejoins the Broadway cast for 14 performances only beginning January 22, stepping in for Bianca Marroquin.
Dossett was most recently seen on Broadway as Charles in the Pippin revival. He earned a Tony nomination for his performance as Herbie in Gypsy opposite Bernadette Peters. His additional Great White Way credits include Newsies, Mamma Mia!, Ragtime and Fifth of July. d’Amboise received Tony nominations for her roles as Cassie in A Chorus Line and in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. Her other Broadway credits include Pippin, Sweet Charity, Carrie, Company, Contact and Damn Yankees. This will be her twelfth engagement in the Main Stem production of Chicago.
The current cast also includes Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron “Mama” Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. As previously reported, Jennifer Nettles and Carly Hughes will join the company from February 2 as Roxie and Velma, respectively.
